📌 7. My Experience
I got this opportunity through an alumni connection from our college (MBA 2023 batch). The hiring process was immediate for the role of QA Manual Tester.
Although I had no prior experience in software testing, I was able to clear the HR discussion round confidently. The next round was with the Team Lead, where he asked about testing tools and my previous exposure to testing practices.
Since I had not worked with testing tools before, the discussion shifted toward development. The Team Lead then offered me a Full Stack Next.js Developer role for their real estate application, which I agreed to explore further.
After that, I was informed that a virtual technical round would be scheduled with the Engineering Manager. However, the meeting was never scheduled and no further communication happened from the company side.
This experience taught me an important lesson about small companies and startup hiring culture — sometimes companies create strong market visibility, but internally their hiring process may not be structured properly.
📌 8. Conclusion
- Communication skills play a major role in interview success.
- Confidence and adaptability are important in client-facing roles.
- Practical exposure to tools can create an advantage during interviews.
- Never leave your current job without securing another offer.
- The market is rapidly changing with AI and automation.
- Practical implementation skills are becoming as important as technical knowledge.
⭐ Final Thoughts
Overall, the interview experience was decent and gave me exposure to how small companies handle hiring. Even though the process did not move forward, it was still a valuable learning experience regarding communication, confidence, and market realities.
