Table of Contents

📌 1. Company Overview

Infosys is a global leader in digital services and consulting, helping clients navigate their digital transformation journey.

📌 2. Position Applied For

• Specialist Programmer (Trainee)
• Digital Specialist Engineer (Trainee)

📌 3. Resume Shortlisting

Shortlisting was based primarily on academic performance. Candidates were required to have at least 75% throughout their education.

📌 4. Aptitude Assessment

No aptitude test was conducted.

📌 5. Technical Assessment

No separate technical MCQ round was conducted.

📌 6. Coding Assessment

The coding assessment was conducted offline at KIET Ghaziabad. Candidates were given 3 hours to solve 4 core DSA problems.

I remembered only the titles of the questions, so later I reconstructed similar problems with the help of an LLM. The problems below closely match the actual OA questions in concept and difficulty level.

📌 7. Questions Asked (DSA – 3 Hours)

1. Delayed Frequency Count (Easy)

Given an integer array arr of size N and an integer K, for each index i, find how many times arr[i] appeared from index 0 to i − K. If i − K < 0, return 0.

2. Alternating Signal Extractor (Medium)

Given an array of integers representing signal strengths, find the length of the longest subsequence where values strictly alternate between positive and negative numbers. Zero values are ignored.

3. Deep Space Telescope (Hard)

Given a binary matrix representing space signals, where connected 1s form a signal cluster, you may flip at most one 0 to 1. Find the maximum possible cluster size.

4. Pairwise Distinct Partition (Complex)

Partition an array into the maximum number of contiguous subarrays such that each subarray contains only pairwise distinct elements. Each such subarray is called a good pair segment.

Note: These problems are reconstructed based on memory and follow typical Infosys OA patterns.

📌 8. Overall Result

Rejected

📌 9. My Experience

I was able to understand and attempt the easy problem. However, I struggled to understand the remaining questions during the exam. These problems required strong fundamentals and deep clarity of core DSA concepts rather than surface-level knowledge.

📌 10. Conclusion

  • Many candidates focus heavily on trending technologies like Full-Stack, DevOps, or LLMs.
  • However, DSA remains the backbone of hiring — past, present, and future.
  • DSA is still the most effective way for companies to filter candidates for core development roles.
